How do viruses use oxidative stress?

Oxygen is a vital element for all living beings to continue their life activities and the main component of oxidant–antioxidant metabolism, which should be in balance. The free radicals formed as result this metabolic process organism constitute source oxidants; external factors (radiation, exposure sunlight, environmental pollution, cigarettes, etc.), inflammation microbial agents also cause formation oxidants. Oxidative stress occurs when balance between antioxidants (which have an eliminating effect against them) shifts favour radicals. Many studies reported that oxidative may affect virulence pathogens during infection. Viruses use pathological pathway causes production reactive oxygen species (ROS) consumption antioxidants. Thus, after viral infections, higher levels ROS are often formed. Not only DNA-containing but RNA-containing viruses were found associated with severe supporting DNA damage, high mutagenicity, initiation and/or progression neoplasia. This review focuses on relationship viruses.
